Our Texas Roots

1974
Randall E. Davidson, CPA becomes an investor and partner in Uni-Copy Corporation, a nationally recognized Sharp and Canon Dealer based in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Davidson was one of three equity partners, initially serving as Vice President of Finance, and rises to serve as President and Chief Executive Officer. During his tenure and leadership from 1974 to 1986, Uni-Copy Corporation grows from 20 to 150 employees with offices throughout Arizona and San Diego, California with annual revenues in excess to $15 million.

1986
Following the sale of his equity in Uni-Copy Corporation as well as the sale of his Tempe, Arizona CPA Firm, Mr. Davidson accepts a position as Vice President of Operations and Southern Zone General Manager for Texas Copy Systems, a nationally recognized Canon Dealer based in Austin, Texas.

1987
The sale of Texas Copy Systems to the predecessor of Ikon Office Solutions prompts Mr. Davidson and his business partners to form Dahill Industries, Inc., and work out of his Townhome on Steck Avenue for several months. Mr. Davidson serves as President and CEO for 12 years from 1987 to 1999 of this Austin based Full Line Authorized Sharp Dealer. Under Mr. Davidson’s leadership, Dahill Industries grows to include eight branches in Texas and Arizona, with annual revenues in excess of $32 million.

1998
Mr. Davidson is honored by being awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the Service Category in Austin, Texas.

1999
Mr. Davidson and his business partners sell Dahill Industries to Florida-based Global Imaging Systems. Mr. Davidson retains personal ownership of the newest start-up branch located in Phoenix, Arizona. He is also retained by Global Imaging Systems to serve as Texas Core President and CEO for Dahill/Global Texas Operations for 18-months.

2000
Texas Imaging Systems, Inc. is formed by Elizabeth L. Davidson together with a staff in Lufkin, Texas led by J. Greag Modisette to serve the Far East Texas Market as a Full Line Authorized Sharp Dealer.

2001
Davidson Imaging Systems is formed as a Texas Corporation, growing from its sole initial location in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Davidson and his management team build this new Company to eventually include seven locations in Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico and Austin, Texas, with annual revenues in excess of $16 million.

2004
Davidson Imaging Systems, Inc. purchases 100% of the outstanding stock of Texas Imaging Systems, Inc. from Elizabeth L. Davidson and continues to operate this Lufkin Operation as a wholly owned subsidiary. Davidson Imaging Systems also complete the purchase of Complete Digital Solutions, an Authorized Savin Dealer in Austin, Texas.

2006
To personally focus and concentrate on expanding the Texas Operations, Mr. Davidson and his business partners sell the five Arizona and New Mexico locations of Davidson Imaging Systems to Sharp Electronics Corporation. Following the sale, Texas Imaging Systems, with locations in Austin and Lufkin, Texas are retained by Mr. Davidson. Texas Imaging Systems is a Full Line Authorized Sharp and Savin Dealer based in Austin, Texas. The company plans for anticipated expansions into San Antonio and Waco, Texas.

2007
After many months and an extensive search, Canon, USA authorizes Texas Imaging Systems with the Full Line of Canon Digital Products in Central Texas. This highly sought after authorization “Prior” to the Canon/Ikon separation elevates Texas Imaging Systems ability to provide a complete and full range of high volume production Digital Copiers and Color Products!

Texas Imaging Systems completes its expansion into San Antonio, Texas with the purchase of the San Antonio Branch of Core Business Solutions.

2009
Texas Imaging Systems moves its Corporate Office and Austin Branch to a new and much larger facility at 2600 Longhorn Blvd. The Company also completes its expansion into Waco, Texas.

2010
Texas Imaging Systems completes the purchase of Peters & Bauer, Inc. in Waco, Texas. Peters & Bauer, Inc. was a 25+ year Canon and Sharp Authorized Dealer. This acquisition gives the Company a strong position in Waco and consolidates the Authorized Territory North of Austin to also include the Temple/Killeen Market Area.

Texas Imaging Systems completes their expansion 100 miles east of Austin to College Station to represent Canon and Sharp. This expansion consolidates all the Authorized Territory between Austin/San Antonio/Waco thru Lufkin to Louisiana.

The Company completes its expansion into the Tyler/Longview Markets in the Fall of 2010. This expansion consolidates the Market Area North and East of Lufkin.

2011
The Company achieves the National Revenue Ranking of Number Seven Independent Dealer for Sharp Electronics Corporation.

2012
The Company completes their expansion back into the Phoenix Market in January with the majority of the Management and Staff from the original 1996 start-up expansion. Current plans call for additional future expansions to both Tucson, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico.

As a result of the Company’s expansion and return to multiple state operation, the Corporate Name is changed to Texas Document Solutions, Inc. and will operate with the d/b/a’s of Arizona Document Solutions, New Mexico Document Solutions, and Texas Document Solutions.

2014
After one year of planning and a careful search of the DFW area, the company expanded into the Fort Worth, Texas market with our 7th Texas location! In October the company acquired County Imaging Solutions, Inc. a Fort Worth based Authorized CopyStar dealer. The entire Sharp product line was added to Fort Worth, along with Senior Management from Texas Document Solutions, while searching for a new Tarrant County expanded office and warehouse location.

2015
During the year the company completed a new 18,000 square foot North Texas office and warehouse in Fort Worth. The company closed our Granbury office in November to consolidate the DFW Metro marketing and focus on one central facility. The company also makes a very strategic decision to focus 100% of its efforts and resources within Texas planning the expansion of an 8th Texas location in Conroe/Huntsville (Montgomery County) market! While it was not planned, the company was presented an unusual opportunity to sell its Arizona operation to Sharp Electronics Corporation, its primary vendor and 42-year business partner. Sharp continues to be an important professional manufacturer relationship.

2016
As a result of the complete focus and expansion plans within Texas, the company applies in the State of Texas for a Corporate Name Change from Davidson Document Solutions, Inc. to Texas Document Solutions, Inc.

2017

During the year the company completed a new 20,000 square foot office, showroom, and warehouse in San Antonio. The new state of the art facility is located in the heart of the technology corridor and convenient to our rapidly expanding customer base. Dedicated Sharp and Canon hardware and software demonstration facilities provide a comprehensive overview of our total technology solution.

2019

In August of 2019, Texas Document Solutions reached an agreement to sell off their major market locations of Austin, Dallas/Fort Worth, and San Antonio to Sharp Imaging and Information Company of America’s direct sales division, Sharp Business Systems (SBS). Texas Document Solutions, under the leadership of president Randy Davidson, will retain its other locations in College Station, Lufkin, Tyler and Waco. This shift in focus allowed for a more specialized and local experience in each of these growing markets. Texas Document Solutions maintained a corporate office in Austin to help support operations for these branch locations.
